Gladiolus punctulatus

Located in the mountain above Napier in the Overberg - the Southernmost region of Africa -  you will find the Sunbird Lodge & Fynbos Reserve nestled amongst beautiful fynbos. This tranquil private reserve is a destination in itself - ideal for those who want to get away for some real relaxation.

The stunning view (over 180 degree) looks over Napier, across the wheat and canola fields to the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountains - some 70 km or more away.

There are opportunities for birding, nature study, walks and hikes; and of course Napier is like a bulls eye in the map of the Overberg so all destinations are seldom more than an hour's drive away whether its Arniston, Swellendam, Caledon, Hermanus or De Hoop.

A short drive up the mountain road running through the property, (part of which forms the route of the Foot of Africa Marathon), takes you to the radio tower where there is a spectacular view over the whole Agulhas Plain

Another highlight is pools in one of the mountain streams on the property. It's here that many a local from Napier learnt to swim. There is also the bat cave - one of only two in the Overberg not to mention a myriad of flora and fauna.

You have a choice of a charming thatch cottage (Erica) which sleeps 2 people or a unit (Restio) ideal for a couple and 2 children. Both have beautifully appointed kitchens to meet all your catering needs. The unit enjoys a built-in braai, a generous deck and the spectacular view for which this lodge is known."
