Black Oystercatcher is a range of sought after boutique wines from the coastal Agulhas district and Elim wine ward in South Africa. This ward, the newest of the maritime vineyards, is one of the most closely watched wine producing regions in the world.
Situated on the southern coastal lowlands, around the historical village of Elim on the southernmost tip of Africa, the strong, cool summer winds ensure a very cool ripening season, perfect for minerally Sauvignon Blanc wines with a tropical fruit flavour and red varietals that produce elegant, fruity red wines.
Black Oystercatcher wine, a rare gem of the region, is aptly named after the endangered ocean birds that thrive along the coastline. Birds that, like the Humans who have farmed here for generations, live long lives, have an incredible sense of family, are passionate and protective of their precious habitat, and cherish life. The Humans, unlike their feathered friends, also cherish fine South African wine.
