The Roberts wine glasses are engineered to maximize wine's attributes and our body's ability to recognize them. The Stemware features big, bold silhouettes, sufficiently proportioned promote aeration and release of a wine's characteristics - speeding it to harmony. The Roberts wine glass gently narrows towards the rim to direct the aromas to the nose.More importantly however, Roberts wine glasses have Taste Stimulating Textures™ (TST™) on the outer glass near the rim. The textures are designed to match the textural characteristics of wine varietals. That is, delicate textures for delicate wines, moderate textures for moderately textured wines and rich textures for heavier, more tannic wines or those with lots of personality.
How does it work?
The Roberts wine glass increases the body's ability to perceive flavors by stimulating the touch sensitive receptors on the lips and tip of the tongue.
When the tongue and lips make contact with the stimulating textures at the rim of the glass, the touch receptors are stimulated. They in turn drive increased saliva flow and opens our body's taste mechanism to a wider, richer and more complete spectrum of flavor sensation possibilities.
Flavor is a composite sensation comprised of Smell and Touch.
Although smell is a critical vehicle for how we perceive wine, the intimacy and immediacy of touch makes it a stronger influencing factor on the overall perception of flavor. No other sense arouses our perceptive understanding like touch.
Touch stimuli of the tongue and lips not only builds anticipation in the palate's flavor receptors, but it has the added benefit of strengthening our sense of smell. It provides unique, vibrant stimuli to every important aspect of our taste preparation, recognition and perception process.
The Roberts wine glass makes you a better taster.
