We know you can only spend so much time on the beaches and in restaurants and bars, so we thought we’d give you an alternative – a concert featuring four of the most interesting bands in Cape Town today. Stanford Hills Wines Estate was kind enough to provide the venue, and Urban Noizz, the new kid on the musical block, felt they didn’t need a Xmas break. So: Hey Presto!

CONCERT AT THE HILLS, featuring Mr Cat & The Jackal, The Nick Turner Band, Black South Easter and soloist, Luca Hart.

Mr. Cat & The Jackal is a five piece multi-instrumental group who play experimental acoustic folk music with a circus of sounds created by foreign and handmade instruments. The band was formed in 2006 and have released three CD’s to date. Don’t be fooled by their description of “experimental acoustic” music – known for their energetic and theatrical performances, these guys will rock the stage.

Accomplished singer/songwriter and guitarist, Nick Turner was a founding member of Sons Of Trout in the late 1990s, and later one half of Mikanic, with fellow Trout violinist Mike Rennie. Nick’s music effortlessly spans genres, with influences ranging from rock, reggae and African to hip-hop, ghoema and jazz. Lyrically powerful, relevant, humorous and energetic, his music has a wide appeal, with shows that feature virtuosic musicianship, funky grooves and catchy tunes. He has just released his first solo album “Home & Secure”.

Black South Easter fuses elements of rocking reggae, with funk, blues, jazz, soul and world dance, creating a unique progressive South African groove mixing the best of local flavours. They have just returned from an extensive nationwide tour and are busy putting the finishing touches to their second CD.

Luca Hart is Cape Towns’ best kept secret. This talented young musician is a classically trained violinist, and has collaborated with some of the top musicians in Cape Town. She also writes her own music and her performances are energetic combinations of EDM and more classical pieces.

All ages welcome. People too.

Food stalls & cash bar. CD’s of the bands will also be for sale (cash only)

Ticket sales through Webtickets, Funky Vibes (Hermanus), and at the door.
