The Cape Agulhas municipal area lies on the Agulhas Plein of the Cape Overberg stretching inland from the southernmost tip of Africa. Towns of Cape Agulhas include: Arniston / Waenhuiskrans, Struisbaai, L'Agulhas, Napier, Bredasdorp and Elim.

Arniston (aka Waenhuiskrans) - is the Overberg village with two names. Picturesque with the turquoise ocean, sand dunes and thatched lime washed fisherman's cottages.

Bredasdorp was established in 1828 as a Dutch Reformed centre on the Langefontein farm. It was named after a local farmer who promoted the project, Michiel van Breda.
Van Breda and another leading personality, Pieter Voltelyn van der Byl, could not agree where the church should be built. As a result two churches were built, and two towns, Napier and Bredasdorp developed.
Van Breda was the first mayor of Cape Town and also a member of the Cape Legislative Assembly. Bredasdorp is the hub of a dairy, wool and wheat farming region.

Elim was founded by Moravian missionaries in 1824 and is largely inhabited by members of the Moravian Church. Elim is named after the Biblical place where the Israelites rested after crossing the Red Sea (Exodus 15:27), because of the fountains in the area.
