THE CALEDON WILD
FLOWER GARDEN
This year is the
79th birthday of the Caledon Wild Flower Garden.
From 1946 Caledon became famous for
Victoria Park, or the Caledon Wild Flower Garden as it is more
commonly known.
Established in 1899, the garden really
“bloomed” in 1933 when Cecil Young and the local community
turned the garden into a landscaping masterpiece.
There are many species of fynbos to be
seen and a 10 km walking trail that leads to the famous
“window rock” from which the local paper, The Overberg
Venster, takes its name.
There will be tractor rides to the garden and other
land where Fynbos is found in abundance in its natural habitat! Entrance to
these magnificent gardens is R6.00 for Adults and R3.00 for
Children. (No fee payable if you go on the tractor ride)
